Marshall Shorts has curated art in Columbus for four years as the creator of BRUSH, the paint by numbers art affair held at his gallery in the King Lincoln District. As a visual communication specialist who has worked with Columbus College of Art & Design (his alma mater), The Ohio State University, Columbus State Community College and the King Arts Center among many other organizations, he noticed a lack of networking events for diverse members of the art community in the city. His answer: the Creative Control Fest, being held Friday and Saturday, October 26-27 at the Lincoln Theater and Method Gallery on Long Street.
The festival will feature speakers and artist development clinics provided by the Lincoln Theater with support by Key Bank, including Gerald Clayton, guest artist of the Jazz Art Group’s Offstage at the Academy series. There will also be performances by soul/rock band Forest & The Evergreens, singer ReneeDion, hip hop dance troupe I Am Dance, DJ O Sharp along with DJ battles and a vendor’s lounge.
“With this conference, we want to highlight those who have inspired us while combining our love for design, music, and the arts.”
